Aztec
An aberrant pattern mutation that causes the dorsal saddle
blotches to be broken into multiple, scattered pieces, aztec
is a popular variation of the zigzag morph.  The pattern
may affect only one or two saddles up to all of them.  The
more saddles affected, the more valuable and sought-after
is the snake.  Some individuals may contain both aztec and
zigzag patterns.  The exact genetics behind this morph is
not completely known as the pattern does not reproduce
like a typical recessive or dominant gene.  However,
breeding highly patterned parents together will increase the
chances of producing patterned offspring...but it cannot be
guaranteed.  Snakes labeled as being "het" for aztec only
indicates that the snake came from an aztec patterned line,
not that it will produce aztec offspring.  Aztec offspring
have been known to spontaneously appear out of
non-patterned lines.
