The caramel morph is the result of a single recessive gene
that appears to remove, or perhaps change, reds creating a
cornsnake in various shades of brown with black and grey,
often with an increased amount of yellow, especially in the
ground color. New hatchlings are often confused with
anerythristics as the yellow often doesn't appear until after
a couple of sheds, if at all. In homozygous combination
with anerythrism, the affects of the caramel gene is
masked resulting in a phenotypical aneryth.
