This is a project that I actually fall into. I was given a pair of normals het
ice bloodred and a pair of anerys het ice bloodred. Unfortunately, over the
few years it took to grow them up, I lost both males. After the second male
died in the winter of 2008/2009, I went on the search for a suitable male as
both females looked to be reaching breeding size for the 2009 season.
Unable to find a male that carried all the genes for this project, I purchased
a stunning anery het lava in the hopes of getting perhaps a few offspring
showing some classic het bloodred markers to keep.
However, possibly due to not brumating any breeders this season, it has
been difficult determining when these females were ready for breeding.
The male, Striker, has been courting each female on and off for several
months, but neither female has accepted him. Only recently, Duchess, the
anery female, accepted one of my male bloodreds het anery as Striker was
deep in blue and not in the mood for love. He's been with Adelaide for this
past week...again...but I have not seen any evidence of a successful mating
despite some courtship behavior.
