This is the wild-type morph of cornsnake by which all the
other morphs are validated. Generally, the ground color of
normal cornsnakes can vary from light grey to orange, the
saddles from a reddish orange to a deep red, and the black
saddle borders can vary in width. The belly sports a black
and white checkerboard. Yellow pigment is often observed
in varying degrees along the side of the head, neck and
even down part of the body length. Normal hatchlings
often look like dark brownish anerythristic hatchlings with
perhaps just a touch of orange showing between the
saddles, but the yellows, oranges and reds become visible
after just a few sheds.
